My understanding is that we are to become sons and daughters of God by emulating Jesus and that through the intake of his word, praying and the discipline to stay holy people will be attracted to the holy spirit through our being (the tree of life) first and then works and certainly not from the knowledge of good (religion) or evil (rebellion).
