TradCatKnight: Progressivist Opposition to the Chantry SystemDr. Carol Byrne, Great Britain In the Middle Ages, a chantry was essentially an institution to administer an endowment by one or more benefactors for a priest to celebrate Masses at a particular altar for the souls of specified persons.
