The Apocalypse Prize 2015 is a free entry, online religious art competition that seeks to aid interested artists in the appreciation of the medieval artistic treasures of our Catholic Church. Medieval art is based on the use of analogical imagery in painting as it is used in Sacred Scriptures. The Apocalypse of St. John is the focus of this project. There will be $15,000 in prizes awarded in this competition for different age groups. The first prize is $7,000. The ApocalypsePrize.com website has videos and essays to help artists understand how to use the pictorial devices of the middle ages in their own work in order to better communicate religious ideas. This competition ends December 31, 2015. A free booklet about medieval art will be sent to all who apply to compete. I think this website would interest anyone who wanted to better understand our catholic heritage from the middle ages. www.apocalypseprize.com
