The modern soldier gives little thought to sharpening his sword for battle. Inadequate to defend its bearer against more lethal weaponry, the sword has been virtually eliminated from twentieth-century arsenals. Yet, on occasions of great solemnity, officers in the armed forces of all civilized nations still wear their swords. Although no longer used in combat, the sword retains such symbolic value that one cannot imagine an officer at a solemn event without it.

According to me in the current world army and soldiers sword must be compulsory again because this is the real icon for the man who is in a form of warrior.The gun and other weapons are not as brave as the sword used to be to show and act a man as a real, fearless and fast warrior to make the enemies kneel down.
Government and the defense must do more research and make the sword technically more advanced and instead of guns and powder..it should be sharp blades as a reward to the brave soldiers.
